Staring into nothing
October 6, 2011
My glasses still have not come in, nearing two weeks now. Could have used them today as I was working on some Python training modules. I did get my new work MacBook Pro today. It will be nice to leave the office on occasion to work on things. It get so cold in here. Spent some time in the garage yesterday making room for the new deep freeze my parents are bringing to use in the next week or two. Got a nice pile of things to take to Salvation Army this weekend. Planning to do some deep cleaning in preperation of my parents visit.
Played a bit of Shadow of the Colossus HD last night. I was getting a little frustrated trying to make this large jump, but once I got to the Colossus it was fun. I'm wondering if I should find a new hobby. I've dropped so many of the childish hobbies I've had over the past few years. Aside from loving Squirrels and snakes and getting an occasional plush toy of them, I only play games. I feel I should do something that is not electronic in nature. To rest my eyes and hands from my working hours. Allot of my co-workers home brew beer. Perhaps I should look into that.
Getting back into the healthy swing after the semi-binge of food over my birthday weekend. Its amazing that in less then a year my eating habits and health have changed so much. More then halfway to my goal weight now.
Day One
October 4, 2011
A few days ago I had a dream that I knew Michael Emerson from the past, but lost contact with him. I was doing some work for our College's Dean and he there in a meeting. I went up to talk to him, told him I really liked his new show. We traded business cards. Later in the rest room I was approached by his co-star in the show informing me that something was about to happen to me. Like the show was a show, but in fact was reality.
I then woke up. And now a funny video
2011

Its my birthday today, turning 36. Been a crazy past year. A year ago today I was in Hawaii having a grand vacation, and are planning a new vacation back to Hawaii or some other tropical destination in the next six months. I've lost 52 pounds since I started dieting and excersing roughly a year ago. I feel so much better then and still plan to lose at least 48 more pounds.
I was one of 30ish people in the entire University that won the University's Staff of the year awar. I got a decent pay raise that helped cement the fact that I do great work here. However as I enter this 36th year, I will be getting glasses to deal with a stygmatism.
Me and Jackie have done several things this year including:
- Port Aransas Trip
- Austin Zoo
- Celtic Festival
- Sherwood Forest Faire
- Craig Furguson
- Flogging Molly at ACL Taping
- Cat Show
- Chicago Training Trip
- The Head and the Heart ACL Taping
- and lots more
Crazy year, but good.
Ghost Hunting
September 6, 2011
I awoke to an interesting dream this morning. I don't often recall my dreams, and when I do they tend to be odd adventures. This one was not as strange as most, but still worth noting.
Me and Jackie were much younger in our early to mid 20s, and were friends with another similar aged couple. We had a fascination with ghosts, and I was an aspiring ghost photography, seeking photographic evidence of spirits. We got some information about an old cemetary that was on the banks of a river that was about to flood, and that high water levels would sparks activity. We went to this cemetary shortly before dusk. The banks of the river where dry with very little water flowing, which seemed out of place as it was supposed to be higher and potentially flooding the cemetary. We explored the dry parts of the water bed, and the banks, taking photographs. As light faded the water started to pick up and it began to lightly rain. We noticed an old structure in the cemetary a small one room office of sorts that was old and in disarray. As night fell the rain stopped and I continued to take photos as our friends were being foolish and running amock, not at all interested in capturing photographic evidence of ghosts. Though the rain stopped, there was still allot of thunder and lightning nearby, that would cause flashes of light. As we explored the old gravestones taking photographs, we caught a glimpse of a shadowy figure near the old building, followed by a glow of light coming from the window. As we approached the building the light faded, and as we got within several feet of the doorway lightning struck and a figure dressed in priest clothing was rummuging through an old desk in the building. He turned to us, and saw the camera. He ran towards us, motioning us to come closer. He paused as we backed up and asked if we where here to photograph the spirits. We replied yes, and he said "Quickly come here, they are almost afoot." He pointed to a corner in the building where some old shelves where built into the wall. "They will comes from there." We set up the camera on a tripod in the direction of the shelves. I began taking still photos, when all of a sudden a ghostly purple light flew from the shelves, out the door and over our heads. I grabbed the camera, removing the tripod and flipped to video mode. All of us ran after the light as it darted between gravestones. The rain that was gone returned, this time as a downpour. The purple wisp stopped above a gravestone and then manifested itself into a ghostly woman, with the same purple hue. She beckoned us with her ghostly hand, mesmerizing us to come closer. The priest began yelling at us that the river was rising. We turned to the river that was once a trickle to see a huge torrent of water flowing and raising quickly upon the banks and into the cemetary. Having broken the mesmerizing glare of the spirit, we ran deeper into the forest to escape the onset of the river, and the spirit who was trying to keep us in place for the waters to take us.
It was quite a vivid dream, and makes me want to think about writing a book or short story.
Life is mostly normal

Crazy past week, but things are much better now. I was stressed about a job offer and awaiting a counter offer from my current job. The counter offer came through and after weighing the pros and cons I decided to stay where I am. Funny thing about the whole process is that after its all said and done my take home isn't going to change much(due to adding Jackie to the insurance this year).
Took the kitties to the vet, Arwen has a knot on her side that is changing shapes. I'm hoping it will run its course, but if it doesn't we may need to take her back to the vet. Missy and Cloud did okay and are pretty healthy. Missy may very early signs of kidney problems, so we need to watch her and take her back for a checkup in three months. I ordered a water fountain from Amazon and the running water should help encourage more drinking which will help her. Cloud is healthy, but didn't feel good Sunday from the annual shots he got. Hes mostly back to his cuddle self today.
I decided to get a 3DS since the price drop is coming and you get 20 free games with it if you register before the 11th. Some neat little apps on, but I have Zelda Ocarina of Time on its way from Amazon as well.
Tearing myself up
July 27, 2011
I'm tearing myself up this week and the past week with stress. I need to pull myself out of this.
With a job offer, and waiting for a counter-offer from my current position is minorly stressful, but exciting the same. However, It seems our cat Arwen, my sweet calico girl, has a sizeable lump on the back side of her abdomen. We scheduled to have her see a vet this Saturday, but I had to go do some research on the internet and it could be bad. I can't imagine my little kitty girl gone from my life. We have three cats and she is the most dear to me. I pray it is nothing major, and something simple.
My mind tends to wonder, and makes me wonder how I will fill the day something happens to her. Sometimes I wonder about the outcomes of things that have not passed as opposed to living in the now.
Ick, children.
February 5, 2011
Starting off with a dream I had last night. Me and Jackie where friends with the Schuster character from Glee. Except that he lived in a trailer house and had a huge snake problems. Dangerous snakes where crawling into his dilapidated trailer and having lots of baby snakes. Me and Jackie where professional snake catches. So we came over and helped catch the snakes, but we just placed them in boxes that they could easily get out of, so we had to keep re-catching them. Odd indeed.
Now to the ick, children. It seems everyone I'm friends on Facebook have lost their own identity and are what their children are. Posting pictures, commenting on other posts that reference their child. I know you child is important to you, but you are not your child, you have a life don't you?
It annoys me that you change your profile pick to your kid. You dress you kid up and toss them in the snow where they cry and you take a picture and post it like its the cutest thing ever. I became friends on facebook to be friends with you, not your freaking child. I can tolerate a few posts about your child, but when all you posts are about your rugrat, It grows tiresome quickly.
Baby Monkey
January 31, 2011
So I've been clearing out my childhood as I see it. I've long stopped buying things like comics, toys, even games and movies with a few exceptions.
I'm now nearing the point in the process to clear out my 3000 some odd comic book collection. I wish I could just sell it in one swoop, but it may be more worthwhile to slowly sell them over time. I suppose this is okay, and may be good, With all the ebay auctions I've had over the past six months, I've grown tired of all the postings and packaging and managing. Once I finish up this recent period of 100 free auction postings I may rest for a while and figure out how best to deal with the comics.
We've been watching BBC's Life, a really great series that we are finishing up this evening with the final episode about mammals.you should check the series out the visuals are simple amazing.
