Life is mostly normal

August 1, 2011

Crazy past week, but things are much better now. I was stressed about a job offer and awaiting a counter offer from my current job. The counter offer came through and after weighing the pros and cons I decided to stay where I am. Funny thing about the whole process is that after its all said and done my take home isn't going to change much(due to adding Jackie to the insurance this year).

Took the kitties to the vet, Arwen has a knot on her side that is changing shapes. I'm hoping it will run its course, but if it doesn't we may need to take her back to the vet. Missy and Cloud did okay and are pretty healthy. Missy may very early signs of kidney problems, so we need to watch her and take her back for a checkup in three months. I ordered a water fountain from Amazon and the running water should help encourage more drinking which will help her. Cloud is healthy, but didn't feel good Sunday from the annual shots he got. Hes mostly back to his cuddle self today.

I decided to get a 3DS since the price drop is coming and you get 20 free games with it if you register before the 11th. Some neat little apps on, but I have Zelda Ocarina of Time on its way from Amazon as well.

Rift

January 28, 2011

So i was finally allowed into the beta for Rift, and I must say I was far from impressed. The only unique thing the game has is its class system, the soul shards. Kind of neat, but I was easily confused by too many options and which way I should go. The Rift themselves are fun, but its the same concept that Warhammer online had at launch. A public event where players can join forces to complete a task for a reward. While the Rift events are a little more dynamic as they can appear anywhere, it really wasn't anything new.

So I'm going to stick with Everquest II for now, with the new expansion around the corner I really want to focus on getting a higher level character. I'll keep my MMO time there until Tera nears release and then I check that game out.

I did beat Enslaved this past week, great fun little game. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Prince of Persia style games, although this one is far more forgiving, and has mechs.

Just a slip of the knife

January 7, 2010

Well as I mentioned before I was biopsied and was found to have a bit of skin cancer on my forehead. Today was my surgery and it went well, not as bad as I was fearing. The pain is starting to set in and I can't remove the bandage for 2 days, but I'm hoping it heals well.

Picked up Darksiders this week and man is it wicked awesome. It reminds me allot of the Legacy of Kain games I enjoyed so much long ago.

Sigh

November 19, 2009

Well I'm sitting in a JQuery seminar that I wish we could attend virtual in my cube. Sitting in a crappy chair, yet another thing to add to the pile. Lifes been tough the past few months. With Jackie's mother passing, stress at work, stress from Jackie's loathing of work, and this past week I found out I have a skin cancer on my forehead. Jackie's been leaning on me pretty hard, and I feel the wall that I am is starting to lean. Its nearing Christmas which is always the most financially worrisome time of the year.

I don't mind Christmas that much if we could just eliminate all the gift-giving crap that is more of a chore then anything else. I'm hoping Christmas break will relax things a bit, even though I will probably have some minor surgery to address the skin cancer.

I think I may have to do some job searching for a higher salary positioned. We are managing things alright, but things could be better, and Jackie could quit her job or find a new one If I had a higher salary. I'll have to start doing some searching and see what surfaces.

Finished up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 last night. Great fun game. I may tackle some of the online stuff this weekend, and then Left 4 Dead 2, Dragon Ages, and then some.

Arwen

August 12, 2009

Long few weeks of work, but this grand project I've been working on is hopefully nearing completion. In other news, spent a week gathering odd n ends achievement in a few games. Then plowed through Gears of War 2 over this past weekend. Was pretty fun. Also played the much longer Arkham Asylum demo and man that game is going to be so much fun. Might try to spend some more time with Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires this weekend if this project gets completed before then.

Prince of Persia

July 23, 2009

So we restarted our Gamefly subscription a month or so back. They've sent us some crap games, and a few games that I thought I may like but ended up not liking(cough Killzone 2). The games I really want to play on the top of my list are constantly out. However, I did receive Prince of Persia, and was greatly surprised with just how touching, and fun, and awesome this game is. Gamestop had it on sale the same week, and after just an hour or two of playing I decided to grab this gem for my collection.

I've spent the past week and half or so playing it off an on, and finished it up this evening. Simple an amazing game. The controls are spot on, the challenges fair, the characters lovable, and the story is very engaging. If you haven't tried this great game, I strongly recommend it.

Coding Chaos

March 27, 2009

Been a bit mentally overwhelmed at work. Lots of projects going on, server testing, and other odds and ends. I'm pretty beat by the time I get home every day. Me and Jackie started some new Everquest toons a week or three back, shes playing a Beastlord and I started a Mage. At level 63 already, but the experience has slowed down, but its been fun.

Looking forward to seeing Star Trek next month. We somehow skipped over watching Watchmen, heard it was kind of long and somewhat slow. Will catch it eventually. The Battlestar Galactica Finale was quite satisfying. A great ending to a great show. I'm kind of iffy about the whole Caprica show that will air soon, but I'll give it a shot and see how it flows. 24 has been amazing this year, as it seems to always be.

On the console front I've been playing Star Ocean 4 and have a little over 40 hours in and I'm on the final disc. Its been a fun game all over, but I'm starting to look forward to Arkham Asylum and maybe Cross Edge, although I'd much rather have Mana Khemia 2.

Holiday Updates

January 9, 2009

The holidays went rather well. Spent 2 and half days with my parents. Saw my sister for the first time since we moved to Austin. Saw Cliff as well and Brandon, joked about how they should move here, but I imagine it won't ever happen. Things have been stable for the most part. We did see Valkyrie the day after Christmas which was a really good movie.

Returned to work after two weeks off this past week. Was hard getting started and back into the groove, but I've made impressive progress on a movie library database system and shopping cart system.

I decided to return to my roots in Everquest and joined a raiding guild with my Enchanter. How I missed her, I've had a blast meeting people in the guild and contributing what I can on raids. I still have 3 levels to gain, and then I can hopefully grind some AAs and get some new bells and whistles.

This November while quite some time away, will mark the tenth anniversary of this website. I was looking over the old versions, and may start poking ideas for later this year. How time flies!
